From THEN to NOW
Over many years there have been arguments, and there have been wars. This section talks about the many wars that have occurred. Although there are many wars listed, it is not all of them. All of these wars have not been talked about in class, but we thought they were important to put on this list.

2530 BC- Battle of Magh Ithe in Ireland--------This is the first recorded war in history.
1720 BC- Kassite attacks on Bablyon
1600 BC- Xia-Shang War in China
499 BC-448 BC-- Persian Wars
34 BC-22 BC-- Chinese War

68- Year of the Four Emperors-----This is also known as the Roman Civil War
572-591--Roman-Persian War of 572-591----Between the Roman Empire and the Iranian Empires.
772-804--Saxon Wars----This war involved the Saxons and the Frankish Empire.
1095-1291--Crusades----This was when Muslims and Christians fought over Jerusalem.
1211-1276--Mongol invasion of China----The Mongols tried to take China.
1337-1453--Hundred Years' War----It really lasted 116 years but is called this.
1454-1466--Thirteen Years' War----This is also called the War of the Cities.
1618-1648--Thirty Years' War----Between the Protestants and Catholics.
1756-1763--Seven Years' War----Also known as French and Indian War.
1775-1783--American Revolutionary War-----This is also called the American War of Independence.
1812-1815--War of 1812----Between U.S. and Britain.
1821-1823--Ottoman-Persian War----Between the Ottomans and Persians.
1846-1848--Mexican-American War----This war started because both the US and Mexico claimed Texas.
1853-1856--Crimean War----This war started because of disputes over Palestine.
1861-1865--American Civil War----Union vs. Confederacy
1868-1878--Ten Years' War----Between Cuba and Spain
1870-1871--Franco-Prussian War----France and Prussia fight over the seat for the Spanish throne.
1898--Spanish-American War----There were issues of liberation of Cuba.
1899-1901--Boxer Rebellion (In China)----Not a war......but important. The Society of Harmonous Fists were against Christians so they killed some of them.
1910-1921--Mexican Revolution---- (Cinco de Mayo) Mexicans celebrate this because they defeated the French.
1914-1918--World War I----Allied Powers vs. Central Powers.....It all started because Princip killed Archduke Ferdinand. For more information on this war, click on the videos page in the menu bar.
1939-1945--World War II----Allies vs. Axis......Tensions left over from WWI and Germany started it all by invading Poland.
1950-1953--Korean War----Fight between North and South Korea......Communism.
1954-1975--Vietnam War----This war lasted a while and was mainly between North and South Vietnam.
1980-1988--Iran-Iraq War----Iraq invaded Iran because of border disputes.
1990-1991--Persian Gulf War/Gulf War----Because Iraq invaded Kuwait, the UN got involved and the Gulf War began.
2001-ongoing--War in Afghanistan----This war started because of terrorist attacks (9/11). This war is still going and is between UN/NATO countries against Insurgent groups.
2003-ongoing--Iraq War----Started because of terrorism. We overthrew Hussein and are now working on building a Democratic government for Iraq.
